Khan married his high school sweetheart Malaika Parekh on 20 November 2005. In an interview, Malaika stated that Zayed proposed four times to Malaika and she has four rings from him. They both studied in

Malaika is trained in the gems and jewellery business as her late father Rohit Parekh, a diamond merchant, was in the same trade. In September 2007, Malaika and Zayed announced that they were expecting their first child. The couple had a baby boy, Zidaan, born 18 January 2008, and a second son, Aariz, born 22 September 2011. In 2008, Khan gave up smoking in honour of his first son.
